I form participatory poetic enchantments of deep listening through place-based experiences that weave together puppetry, Butoh movement-meditation, ritual and collective making. Since 2023, I have worked with the composing and decomposing life-force of soils. I attend to the fractured, dismembered relations between people and land. By connecting people to their own bodies, I awaken a heart-based perception of soil, the flesh of the earth. Whether on stage or in an ancient forest, I invite multi-vocal community participation into my artistic process and vision.

My Russian upbringing informs my sense of the living world. The Slavic poetry and fairytales that cradled me shape my perception of how the earth speaks and dreams, even as these languages remain unknowable and immeasurable. Hierarchies of human domination have rendered the speaking earth mute. My work awakens a consciousness of how the earth communicates and inspires compassionate and sensitive action that transforms how human beings touch the earth, listen to her languages, and live on, and with, our planet.

In my practice, all is haunted, enchanted, and interwoven. Rather than solid representations, performing objects become porous invocations that awaken encounters between earth, flesh, memories, histories and dreamings.

My practice is grounded in my life-long chronically ill body and the values and wisdom of disability culture: brilliant imperfection, listening to marginal knowledges and honoring the sacredness of sick bodies. For both people and the planet, healing does not mean curing. I embrace brokenness, the fractures of memory, and the compassionate courage to be with what is.
